Making Jesus Real In Our Hearts And Community
Good Shepherd Church is a United Methodist faith community dedicated to making disciples for Jesus Christ. We are a friendly, loving congregation who understands the relevance of Christ's message for the 21st century. Our goal is to help individuals and families find and live the will of God. We live in a busy world with challenges driven by circumstances beyond our control. Fear, fatigue, and uncertainty have become the norm and balance and purpose seem out of reach. We all need a place where these things can be transformed into love, peace, and understanding. In concert with the gospel of Jesus Christ, we seek to be a community of believers committed to the transforming power of God.
L.I.F.E. - Living In Faith Everyday
Faith is more than a Sunday morning excursion to a local church or a set of rules designed to keep God happy and us from God's judgment. Instead, faith is a relationship rooted in God's love. To love God with all of your heart, mind, soul, and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself is our response to God's grace. We live the life of faith because God changed us through Jesus Christ. Living In Faith Everyday means that God's love for us and our love of God motivates us to live each day in obedience to God's purpose.
Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors
As a congregation in the United Methodist Church, Good Shepherd Church has accepted the challenge to "Rethink Church." Rethink Church is a call to refocus and ask the question, “What is God calling The United Methodist Church to be in the 21st century?” The Methodist movement began in the 18th century as a catalyst for church renewal. One of its principal founders, John Wesley, proclaimed, "the world is my parish." It was his desire that everyone know the grace of God through Jesus Christ. Wesley lived in a place and time when people wondered if church and God were still relevant. He not only insisted that they were relevant but demonstrated such relevance. It is in that spirit that the United Methodist Church seeks to reach out to this generation. Good Shepherd UMC is committed to the notion that Jesus is for everyone and relevant for today.
